Beşiktaş staged a thrilling comeback at Tüpraş Stadium, overturning a shock 0–2 first-half deficit to beat St. Patrick’s Athletic 3–2 (7–3 on aggregate) in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers.

The visitors stunned the home crowd with a 3rd-minute VAR-awarded penalty converted by Carty, and McLaughlin doubled the lead in the 34th minute. But the Black Eagles responded with goals from Demir Ege Tıknaş (43’), Tammy Abraham (49’), and super-sub João Mário (79’) to seal the win.

While Beşiktaş were never truly in danger of elimination after their 4–1 away win in Dublin, the 30,000+ fans inside Tüpraş Stadium may have expected a more comfortable evening. St. Patrick’s 120 travelling supporters enjoyed a rollercoaster ride before Beşiktaş’ superior quality ended their upset hopes.

Head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær will take heart from the fightback but knows squad depth remains an issue ahead of the final qualifying round. Next up: Lausanne-Sport of Switzerland, who cruised past Astana 5–1 on aggregate.

Transfer news:

According to Fabrizio Romano, Beşiktaş have agreed terms with Taylan Bulut, a 19-year-old right-back from Schalke 04, and reached a deal with his club.

Jadon Sancho, heavily linked to Beşiktaş in recent weeks after fans flooded his latest Instagram post with over 5.5 million “Come to Beşiktaş” comments, is now the subject of an official offer from AS Roma. Romano reports that while Sancho is open to a move to Rome, he is currently not keen on a transfer to Turkey.

Beşiktaş have also reportedly stepped up their efforts for Aston Villa’s Leon Bailly according to Sky Germany. And rumors regarding Sassuolo’s Armand Laurienté continue to persist.

In further winger developments, Kerem Aktürkoğlu’s expected move to Fenerbahçe has collapsed after the club withdrew their €22.5m + €2.5m offer and lowered it to €17.5m, which Benfica rejected outright. Could this reopen the door for Beşiktaş to make a move?
